Detail information

This concert weaves together Classical elegance, modern musical expression, and the heights of Romantic chamber music. The evening opens with Mozart’s Piano Trio in C Major, KV 548, a work from his late creative period. With characteristic clarity and lightness, Mozart shapes a lively dialogue between the piano and the strings, while subtle virtuosity and balanced form underscore the music’s joyful, almost symphonically infused character.

A striking contrast at the center of the program is Edison Denisov’s First Piano Trio. This key figure of the Russian musical avant-garde builds tension through delicately woven textures, colorful sonorities, and finely shaded expressivity. Denisov expands the traditional trio form into an intimate, almost meditative statement that moves between quiet gestures and dramatic contrasts.

The evening culminates in Schubert’s expansive Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 99 (D. 898), one of the pinnacles of 19th-century chamber music. The work abounds in radiant melodies, broad lyrical landscapes, and Schubert’s unmistakable warmth and tenderness. Its lyrical monumentality and spontaneous vitality create a powerful emotional arc that stands among the most captivating achievements of the piano trio repertoire.

The performers — violinist Fedor Rudin, cellist Senja Rummukainen, and pianist Boris Kusnezow — unite their distinctive musical voices in a chamber dialogue that promises exceptional refinement of sound, sensitive phrasing, and profound insight into the contrasting musical worlds of this program.
