Detail information

The evening of chamber music will present the outstanding young ensemble Fibonacci Quartet, which has quickly gained international recognition. Violinists Luna De Mol and Kryštof Kohout, violist Elliot Kempton, and cellist Findlay Spence form a quartet that captivates not only with technical brilliance but above all with a deep understanding of chamber interplay and expressive imagination. Their exceptional qualities were confirmed by a historic achievement at the Premio Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition in Italy, where in 2024 they became the only ensemble to win both the First Prize and the Audience Prize.

The program brings together two distinctive approaches to the string quartet from the 19th and 20th centuries. Béla Bartók’s String Quartet No. 5 is considered one of the peaks of modern quartet literature. The work is constructed with architectural precision, full of rhythmic energy, sharp contrasts, and references to folk music, yet at the same time deeply emotional and urgent. Bartók masterfully unites intellectual structure with raw expressive power that draws the listener in from the very first bars.

In contrast, Robert Schumann’s String Quartet No. 3 in A major offers a world of Romantic lyricism, songfulness, and intimate dialogue among the instruments. Schumann’s music is imbued with inner restlessness and gentle poetry, alternating moments of joyful uplift with melancholic reflection, and emphasizing color and mutual listening among all voices.

Performed by the Fibonacci Quartet, this concert promises not only a striking contrast between two stylistically different works, but above all a powerful musical experience in which youthful energy meets interpretive maturity and a deep respect for the tradition of chamber music.
