An evening of chamber music features the Fibonacci Quartet – violinists Luna De Mol and Kryštof Kohout, violist Elliot Kempton, and cellist Findlay Spence – performing works spanning different musical epochs. The Fibonacci Quartet is the only ensemble to have won both the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the international string quartet competition Premio Paolo Borciani in Italy (2024).
The program opens with Haydn’s String Quartet No. 5 in D major, Op. 64, “The Lark”, whose playful lyricism and delicate musical wit showcase the genius of the Classical style. It continues with Bartók’s String Quartet No. 5, an intense, rhythmically driving, and harmonically and colorfully inventive work that exemplifies 20th-century mastery.
The evening concludes with the Romantic centerpiece – Schumann’s String Quartet No. 3 in A major, Op. 41, celebrated for its emotional depth, melodic elegance, and contrasting moods, requiring perfect ensemble interplay and expressive sensitivity.
This concert offers the audience a rich musical journey from Classical elegance through modern expressivity to Romantic lyricism, highlighting the virtuosity and artistic insight of the Fibonacci Quartet.
