Detail information

An evening of chamber music features the distinguished Czech duo – violinist Kryštof Kohout and pianist Petr Novák – performing a program that spans the heights of Classicism, Romanticism, and 20th- and 21st-century music. The concert opens with Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 6 in A major, Op. 30, No. 1, renowned for its lyrical beauty and the intimate, conversational interplay between the two instruments. In contrast, Johannes Widmann’s Étude III offers a modern, technically brilliant, and at times experimental showcase for both performers.

The central part of the program presents an expressive pair of works by Karol Szymanowski – the dreamily colored Nocturne and the rhythmically dazzling Tarantella, full of virtuosity, vibrant colors, and subtle oriental influences. The evening culminates with one of the most beloved and celebrated chamber works ever – César Franck’s Violin Sonata in A major, an emotionally profound and architecturally magnificent piece that combines intimacy with soaring spiritual depth.
