The Christmas time & Štěpán Rak

Legendary Czech guitar virtuoso, composer, and storyteller Štěpán Rak brings a festive and reflective program to the House of Music in his concert That Christmas Time. This evening will blend the warmth of the holiday spirit with the poetic and expressive depth of Rak’s distinctive musical voice.

The concert will feature the premiere of Christmas Fanfares, an arrangement of Ivan Jelínek’s Aria di Bohemia, and a rich selection of Rak’s original works inspired by biblical and fairy-tale themes — including Song for King David, Song for the Virgin Mary, Journey into a Fairytale, Alice in Wonderland, The Emperor’s Nightingale, and The Little Mermaid. The program will also include beloved film music such as Martin Böttcher’s Winnetou and Ennio Morricone’s Once Upon a Time in the West.

The evening concludes with a heartfelt selection of Christmas carols and songs in Štěpán Rak’s sensitive and imaginative arrangements — a musical experience full of peace, joy, and quiet contemplation to usher in the holiday season.
